Welcome to Pixel Passports. This is where I share the food stops, island drives, and hotel stays that make exploring the Philippines feel personal.
Some of the meals that stay with you are the ones you find by chance. It might be a carinderia with a busy lunchtime counter, a small grill you can smell from across the street, or a market stall with one dish that everyone seems to be ordering.
As a local, I am always looking for places that feel lived-in. I love trying all kinds of food, from familiar comfort dishes to flavors I have not met before. A food stop does not need a polished dining room to be worth the trip. It needs good cooking, a story, and the kind of plate that has you planning when to come back.
What you will find here
Pixel Passports will follow the food that makes a place memorable. I will share the everyday spots I am curious about, the meals I would tell a friend to try, and the small details that are easy to miss when you are visiting somewhere new.
- Carinderias and neighborhood counters for everyday Filipino meals
- Markets and street food stalls worth a stop
- Regional dishes to try when you are visiting a new place
- Cafes, bakeries, and casual favorites to save for later
Hidden does not have to mean hard to find
Sometimes a great place is only a few streets away from the busy road. Sometimes it is the place with the longest lunch line, a handwritten menu, or a regular who knows exactly what to order. The joy is in paying attention, asking questions, and being willing to try something new.
Start with curiosity
When you travel around the Philippines, ask someone where they eat after work. Watch which stall fills up first. Order the thing you do not recognize. You may find a favorite dish, a new neighborhood, or a reason to come back.
This journal is for curious eaters and travelers who want more than a quick list of tourist spots. Thanks for starting here. I cannot wait to bring you along for the next meal.
